Our Neighbours ministry in Chennai has the goal of establishing contextualized churches. These churches would be planted in the midst of the potential congregation's community as we would like them to remain in their own communities and in the future be a witness to those around them. 85% of the least unreached people group live in the slum in which we work. The majority of them live under the poverty line and are not educated. We use a variety of engagement tools to reach out to them. These tools are: - Running a Sunday school where about 75-100 children attend each week.
- Handing out lunch packets once a week
- Giving small loans (without interest) to enable people to start small businesses.
- Conducting Bible studies with families under the cover of their homes as many of them are secret believers.
- Having a drop-in centre for children where they can play games as well as learn Christian principles. In the future we would like to install a coffee machine here to give out free coffee.
- Running a tuition centre for children.
