Over 150,000 (one and a half lakh) street kids live in the city of Chennai. Some have parents and some just live off the streets.
Rescue and Restore, is now working amongst these children by offering them education and meeting their felt needs. We have a home for the children where they can experience the love and security of a family. We also have programs reaching out to the children who are still living on the streets. Through sports and other actvities we have been able to make relationships with them and share the truth of Jesus Christ.Rescue and Restore Ministries Mission Statement
The purpose of Rescue and Restore Ministries Chennai is to bring hope to the street children's future by: - Reuniting them with their families.
- Preparing them to fit into society.
- To provide a proper living place for those who are truly destitute.
- To be involved regularly with the children of the streets.
- To help them work through their emotional and spiritual problems so they come to Christ.
- To prepare them as Christian disciples and ministers of the gospel.
Foundational Values of Rescue and Restore - Our staff are required to demonstrate a heart of compassion and brokeness for the children.
- We should be an example to the children of a godly life.
- Flexible to street hardships.
- Ability to identify with street children.
- Concern for the day to day problems of the children.
- To be medically trained, patient, and sacrificial.
- To have some understanding of psychology, causes and cures for emotional abuse, and addictions.
